Acupuncture Chinese Herbal Medicine ACC

Can I see an acupuncturist without a GP’s referral?
If your injury is covered by ACC, you should see your GP for a referral. If you come to see us for medical care, you do not need a referral from another practitioner.

What is ACC?

Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) is health insurance when you have sustained an accident or injury you are entitled to submit a claim for ACC. An accident must be a sudden incident or event that has happened at a certain time and place. ACC will cover most injuries that have occurred at home, the community, workplace, plus recreational and competitive sports.

ACC will cover the cost for some of your treatments – however, a co-payment is required at every visit. Your physio will fill in the necessary ACC paperwork for you. We can also refer you for an X-ray or ultrasound scans if needed.

Does ACC cover the full cost of treatment?
No, ACC only pays part of the treatment. All patients are required to pay a surcharge. The surcharge is $20.00 for the initial consultation (60 minutes).

What if my injury is not an accident?
Ponsonby Wellness also provides treatment for private claims. Many private claims can be reimbursed by your health insurance provider (dependent on your policy). We can provide receipts for these claims.

The private charge is $90.00 for the first consultation (30 minutes).

Follow-up appointments cost $60.00 (consultation + Chinese herbal medicine).

Follow-up acupuncture treatments cost $90 (consultation + treatment).
